Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that the second major system software update for the PlayStation 5 will be released on September 15. The new software update brings M.2 SSD storage support, 3D audio support for TV speakers, and more.

The PS5 September Update includes new UX enhancements that make it easier than ever for players to personalize and manage their gaming and console experiences.
Control Center customization: Players will now be able to rearrange or choose which controls to hide and show from the bottom of the screen.
Improved Game Center: Players can now easily access and communicate with friends and Parties from the Game Base in the Control Center.
PlayStation Now resolution selection and connection test tool: PlayStation Now subscribers will be able to choose their preferred video resolution (720p or 1080p – depending on the game) for game streaming. Players will also be able to troubleshoot connection problems with the connection test tool.
The PlayStation 5 September Update will also add support for gamers to experience 3D audio via built-in TV speakers.
In addition, starting tomorrow, PlayStation 5 console owners will be able to add an external M2 SSD to their console.
