Sega announced last year that it would try and implement NFT’s. However, CEO Haruki Satomi acknowledged at a management meeting that there is a big negativity among the NFT-related player community.
Satomi said there are no concrete plans for NFT’s, blockchain or win-win system and will stay away if NFT’s are perceived as a monetization plan.
Satomi added: “We want to try a variety of things related to the NFT. Many different studies and evaluation processes have begun. At this point, however, nothing has been decided. There have been many announcements about this, including abroad, but at this point there is a large user base that reacts negatively. We need to carefully consider many things, such as how we can reduce negative elements, how much we can incorporate it into Japanese regulation, what will and will not be accepted by users.
We’re going to do more evaluations on this system. However, if this is perceived as a simple monetization system, we will not continue this process.”
