Sega said it plans to invest almost $1 billion over the next five years to further enhance its game development capabilities. This budget also includes the idea of buying other gaming companies.
The famous Japanese broadcaster also announced that starting this year they are committed to developing a Super Game, which will rise on the basis of “globality”, “online”, “community” and “IP usage”. To achieve all these goals, an investment of up to 100 billion yen (equivalent to $882 million) is planned.
In 2005, Sega connected Creative Assembly, the developer of the Total War series, followed by Sports Interactive; (Football Manager), Relic;i (Age of Empires IV), Atlus;u (Persona), Amplitude;u (Humankind) and Two Point Hospital.
Sega says future acquisitions will also be selected from names to support existing developers.
Sega will also release a large number of games outside of the Super Game in question, of course, including Creative Assembly’s new FPS game.
