Sega announced earlier this month that it had 800,000 strategic collaboration agreements with Microsoft and that Microsoft would develop large-scale, global games in the next-generation development environment on the Azure cloud platform.
This weekend, Sega’s financial investment meeting raised questions about the deal, which did not mean developing or releasing Microsoft-specific games.
“We already have a close working relationship with Microsoft. As a third party, we offer a variety of games,” Sega said, referring to the fact that his studios have worked on games such as Halo Wars 2 and Age of Empires 4.
“When we announced our Super Game concept, Microsoft showed interest in this vision. We’re not talking about releasing Microsoft-specific games here, this Super Game will be available to the world with their technical support,” Sega said.
There has long been talk that Microsoft wants to tie a Japanese publisher to its colors, and Sega is one of the publishers mentioned. Time will tell if this collaboration will evolve into something else in the coming period.
