Sonyhas recently received so many delays about the new Venom film that at some point we began to doubt that it would actually be released. Normally, it was possible to link this delay circulation to the pandemic, but when it came to Venom, it became clear that there were other reasons. Indeed, it became clear that sony was the main cause of box office concerns. When MCU’s new film Shang-Chi exceeded expectations at the box office, Sony moved Venom, which it intends to postpone until 2022, to an earlier date than usual.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which had a release date of October 15 before the last postponement, was moved to October 1st,two weeks early. The film’s official Twitter account even announced that tickets were on sale. Shang-Chi, which broke the $90 million threshold in its first week, was a turning point not only for Venom 2 but for all superhero movies. Before Shang-Chi’s release, there was talk of shifting Eternalsto the December slot and extending Spider-Man 3to 2022 in case of a possible failure. Fortunately, there were no fears, and everything is going according to plan for now.
Although it was first released on Disney+, Black Widow(and then Shang-Chi); the box office success was a ray of hope again in post-pandemic theaters. Spider-Man 3 will probably break the record in this new vision scheme. Let’s see if we can see the billion-dollar box office disney is used to.
