Shinji Hashimoto, who is retiring after a 28-year absence at Square Enix, has announced that he has joined Sony Music Entertainment as both a senior consultant and a board member of their subsidiary ForwardWorks.
Hashimoto said: “I’m sorry to have posted so much. However, I wanted to announce that as of today, I have started working as a senior consultant at Sony Music Entertainment and as a board member at their subsidiary ForwardWorks.
In my previous role, I was always supported by both others in the industry and my fans. At this stage, I will focus on the development of the entertainment sector again. I’m turning over a new page on my own. But I can’t share exactly what I’m working on in these new roles. I will re-inform you when the time comes.
This path I embarked on at the age of 64 will be a new adventure for me. I thank you for your support. I’m writing this message for my fans around the world.”
Shinji Hashimoto is the former brand manager of the Final Fantasy series, who worked at Square Enix for many years. Prior to Square Enix, he worked at Bandai.
