EA Sports, which has previously made similar decisions on the community side, has been hit with a new ban and Benjamin Mendy, a left-back for Manchester City, has been removed from FIFA 22 after being accused of rape. The player accused of raping four girls and one sexual assault at his Cheshire home between October 2020 and August 2021 has been banned from FIFA 22, which will be released on October 1.
Benjamin Mendy Accused of Rape removed from FIFA 22
EA Sports has removed the player from Ultimate Team mode along with FIFA 22, Eurogamer reported. However, according to reports, the player’s previously received cards can still be found in the auction section, even though they have been removed from the game. EA Sports officials said in a statement that “Benjamin Mendy has also been removed from the relevant squads at FIFA 22 for being removed from the active squads of both Manchester City and the French national team, and his participation in fifa Ultimate Team packages and the Ultimate Draft while awaiting trial has been suspended.”
According to PC Gamer, Mendy is thought to have become a rare card due to the removal of his card, which could lead to increased value among players. However, EA can prevent this by fixing the price of MENDY-related FUT items, as it did with Emiliano Sala, who died in a plane crash.
If Mendy, who is still on trial, is found innocent, it is also possible that he will be added to both the squads and FIFA 22. Marco van Basten, for example, who had previously been accused of racism for making a Nazi salute, was removed from FIFA 20 but returned to the game along with FIFA 21.
