Sonic creator Yuji Naka has apparently parted ways with publisher Square Enix due to the poor sales performance of its latest platform game Balan Wonderworld.
Initially spotted by Twitter user Nintendeal, Naka updated her Facebook job to end with Square Enix on April 30 of this year. This was later confirmed by IGN, which confirmed that it was no longer in the company.
It’s unclear if Naka was the decision. But the breakup move probably comes just a month after the release of Balan Wonderworld.
The game did not perform well both in scoring and in sales. Platformer currently has a 50/50 point rating on Metacritic. It also had very poor sales figures in some areas.
Yuji Naka joined Square Enix in 2018. Following his participation, he founded Balan Company to develop platform games. Naka’s next move is unclear at this time.
