Sony presented its reports for the first quarter of fiscal 2021 at a meeting with its investors and also shared an interesting detail about the PS5 production process. Sony has announced that over 10 million PS5s have been sold since its release.
Sony CFO;su Hiroki Totoki responded to a question about how the difficulty of supplying semiconductors, which also affects PS5 production numbers, would affect the future situation, saying that Sony had provided enough chips (although not physical supply, to say that necessary agreements were made) to meet PS5 sales targets for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Sony was aiming to sell around 14.8 million PS5s in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022. This means that the necessary components for 5 million PS5s are supplied for the coming months and can be produced without reducing the number of these consoles.
