Sony Blocks Ps Plus and PS Now Subscription Extensions

As has been the news for weeks, Sony is now preparing to release its own Game Pass counterpart; Of course, they’re going to take a slightly different path than Microsoft. On the one hand, there will be an option that the current PS Plus model continues, while on the other hand there will be super packages that give you access to a library of hundreds of games. The conversion of existing subscriptions to the top package is also an important agenda item, of course.

That seems to be a move from Sony. Many sites, forums, and social media accounts share about the problems faced by users who want to extend their PS Plus and PS Now subscriptions. It is said that you are currently not able to buy new packages for both subscriptions and add them to the end of your existing subscription. In fact, judging by some shares, there are also problems with the activation of pre-purchased subscription cards.

Users who have reached out to PS support on this issue say they have received feedback that the problem will disappear after the activation of new subscription systems. The responses said “it is not possible to extend/stock your subscription“.

The rationale for Sony’s move is clear. The PS Now subscription will be $60 per year, while the PS Plus Premium subscription will be $120 on the new system. With the transition to the new system, PS Now subscriptions will be converted to PS Plus Premium, so in a sense, a half-price subscription will be offered. So they’ve gone out of their way to block users who might say, “Let me stock up on a 3-5-year subscription already.”

In our country, since there is no PS Now and it is announced that PS Plus subscribers can switch to the top packages at a “proportionate fee”, getting a new PS Plus subscription at this stage will not make much difference. Despite this, it seems that PS Plus subscriptions cannot be extended in our country. When you try to purchase a PS Plus subscription, you receive a “Can’t add/Purchase to cart” warning; It says, “You already have it.” So it’s not possible to extend a subscription. I don’t know why they put a restriction here when there’s no such thing as PS Now. But at least it’s possible to say that this situation can continue until June.
