Sony Interactive Entertainment recently announced that it will launch its new PlayStation Plus subscription service in Asia on May 23, Japan on June 1, the United States on June 13 and Europe on June 22. This service will be available with three different subscription options and will give different benefits to its subscribers.
The PS Plus subscription service will feature small games as well as large (AAA) productions. Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki says the big productions on the platform will affect existing investments and quality.
Totoki notes: “At Sony, including AAA PlayStation 5 games in PlayStation Plus both damages the budget of these games and leads to deterioration of the current quality We are very concerned about this issue. Our current thinking is to develop this platform in a way that benefits in the long run.
We’re still working on that. We do not intend to include big games on this platform on the first day. However, we have many large constructions to be included in the system.”
The PS Plus service will feature big games such as Death Stranding, God of War (2018), Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 and Returnal.
