Sony appears to have changed plans for twisted metal reboot. Sony, which will return to the series after more than a decade, gave the game’s development to Lucid Games, the developer of Destruction All-Stars.
However, Lucid was sacked and Sony instead delivered the game to one of its first-party studios in Europe, VGC reported.
It has not been announced which is the new studio, but Sony aims to release the game at similar times to the TV series, which will be released in 2023.
The developer is said to have been replaced because of the poor reviews he received from the PS5 game Destruction All Stars. Normally a full-price PS5 game, the release date was postponed, then offered for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers for two months, followed by a $20 price tag.
Twisted Metal was announced in 2019, and the series is being produced under Sony’s PlayStation Productions brand.
