Sony has decided to resume production of its PlayStation 4 console, according to Bloomberg. This is because playstation 5 production has not reached a sufficient level due to component shortages.
Sony normally announced plans to end production of PS4 consoles last year, but has now informed its production partners that PS4 production will continue throughout 2022.
The number of PS4s to be produced this year is about 1 million. The lack of PlayStation consoles in the market will also reduce the pressure on Sony and allow it to negotiate better terms with its production partners.
The PlayStation 4, which debuted in 2013, has sold more than 116 million copies to date.
