With the release of the PlayStation 5, Sony introduced players to their new controller, DualSense, and was highly acclaimed for new technologies such as haptic feedback and adaptive trigger. We praised the controller in our Dualsense review. However, it seems that the company does not intend to settle for this. According to a patent filed last week, Sony may be working for the new controller.
Sony details new controller patent
When we look at the patent data, Sony’s new controller contains interesting details, especially about the analog stick. According to the new design, the rod body, which can rotate freely around it, can enter according to the user’s request. This means that depending on your finger length, you can extend and shorten the length of the analog stick as you wish. Some companies tried to solve this situation with additional analog parts of various lengths and widths in the elite controllers they produced. When Sony’s patent is implemented, it seems that we will have the ergonomics we want without the need for an additional part.
Sony’s previous generation controller, dualshock 4, was updated once. The firm’s newest controller, DualSense, debuted on November 12, 2020, along with the PlayStation 5, and no new version has yet been released.
