Sony recently announced the acquisition of Finnish studio Housemarque. Returnal is now the official partner of PlayStation, the studio that made games such as Nex Machina and Resogun. The purchase was a sensible move. But they weren’t the only ones interested in buying the studio as you’d expect.
Housemarque CEO Ilari Kuittinen said in an interview with Yle: “Other big players are also interested in buying the studio.” Who exactly were these “big players”? Kuittinen didn’t mention their names.
By default, major players in the industry from China, Sweden and the US were interested in Housemarque. China’s Tencent, Sweden’s Embracer Group and (possibly) MICROSOFT of the UNITED States were closely following this studio.
