This week, Sony is said to finally be introducing its Game Pass-like Project Spartacus service, but that’s not the only leverage Sony has. Repeated statements by industry figures suggest that Sony will appear with three major announcements later this week.
In fact, Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller said this week that he’s postponing the popular PlayStation podcast “PS I Love You XOXO” until Thursday because even one of the three rumors he’s heard is true. So we’ve got a busy week ahead of us.
One of these three rumors is Spartacus, and the second is a new Knack game. The third is still unclear.
According to Gematsu’s Twitter posted, Sony filed a trademark application for the name Knack in Japan on March 17. These documents have only just been made public, so it’s only been a week since they’ve been released. The trademark is only for the word Knack, that is, PS5 versions of Knack games, reboot or a new game will come to the series.
Knack’s developer was the Japan Studio studio, which Sony had closed. But considering that Japan Studio employees have moved into Team Asobi and Team Asobi is working on a new game after the popular Astro Bot games, the stones are in place.
We look forward to the news from Sony later this week.
