The emergence of references to the PlayStation PC Launcher name among the files of Marvel;s Spider-Man Remastered, released last week, revealed the claim that Sony plans to use its own PC Launcher software. If this software happens, it also looks like it will allow players to link their PC games to their PlayStation Network accounts.
It is possible to come across the words “PSNAccountLinked” and “PSNLinkingEntitlements” in various places in the files.
Of course, these references do not necessarily mean that the software will take place, but it is certain that Sony has such a plan. It’s unlikely that this will be a more comprehensive launcher like Epic or Steam launcher software, and I don’t think Sony would spend time on such a development process for a few games. In other words, we should not expect a complete launcher with its store, wish list, friend list. However, if you still need an extra launcher to run the game you bought on Steam or another store, this can be annoying for some players. For example, I am one of those who do not like to have many launchers running on my computer at the same time.
Sony has so far released Days Gone, Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War and Spider-Man for PC, Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection is on the way, and information about the PC version of Returnal has leaked. So there is a library that is growing day by day. The idea of using PSN and PC accounts in common may not be bad, but we will only be able to find out what Sony’s plans are for this software when they make a statement.
