Sony Interactive Entertainment is working on a new service codenamed “Spartacus”, which combines modern and classic games and will be available to players for a monthly fee, Bloomberg reports.
According to the stated, the service will be available on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and will be released in spring 2022. It will also include existing PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscription services.
Although the details are not yet finalized, the subscription service codenamed “Spartacus” will consist of three tiers:
Tier One – Will include existing PlayStation Plus benefits.
Tier Two – Will include a large catalog of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games.
Tier Three – Extended demos will include game streaming and a library of classic PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PSP games.
Sony Interactive Entertainment, on the other hand, wants to keep the PlayStation Plus name. In addition, it plans to phase out the PlayStation Now service.
Finally, Sony is expanding its work in the cloud playground.
