Sony has announced plans to release 10 live service games by 2026. Speaking about the Bungie acquisition, CFO Hiroki Totoki said the developer was working on a “big new IP”; Sony planned to take advantage of Bungie’s experience in live service.
It’s unclear whether bungie is developing any of the 10 games, but the statement says at least one will come from Naughty Dog, the developer of The Last of Us.
“Our studios will learn from Bungie,” Totoki says.
Bungie, for his part, announced that Destiny 2 would continue to support cross-platforming, and that its next games would not be exclusive to PlayStation. Bungie will continue to be independent and multi-platform.
