Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that its acquisition of Bungie, which was first announced on January 31, is now officially complete. Thanks to the acquisition, Destiny series developer Bungie comes under Sony Interactive Entertainment as an independent subsidiary. Bungie will be led by the current management team and will continue to serve as a multi-platform studio and broadcaster.
In a Twitter post, Bungie said: “We are proud to officially join this incredible team on PlayStation. We are excited about the future of our company and want to bring together players from all over the world to create lasting friendships and memories.”
Hermen Hulst, president of PlayStation Studios, added: “I’ve always admired Bungie’s ambitious creativity and groundbreaking games. PlayStation Studios and Bungie are now charting a bolder course. I can’t wait to spend more time with Jason Jones and his team.”
