Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard has become one of the most important events not only this week, but also in the gaming industry. After such a big purchase, of course, I feel like we’re going to continue to hear the repercussions of the event. After the acquisition, eyes were turned to Sony’s announcement. The company eventually issued a brief statement on the matter, saying in a nutshell that they hoped the agreements would continue.
Sony’s first statement after Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard acquisition
Sony officials told The Wall Street Journal that they expect Microsoft to continue to abide by the agreements. The brief statement on the subject reads: “We expect Microsoft to abide by contractual agreements and continue to ensure that Activision games are multi-platform.”
Although deals continue on games like Deathloop after the Bethesda acquisition, as you know, the company’s upcoming games are expected to remain exclusive to Xbox and PX. We’ll probably see a similar operation after the Activision Blizzard acquisition. In other words, Microsoft will continue to negotiate agreements already made, but we may again encounter games gradually abandoning playstation platforms in the upcoming games.
