Spellbreak, the fantasy battle royale game of Proletariat full of wizards, will say goodbye to players in early 2023.
Spellbreak, which brought a different approach to the battle royale genre, had risen to 10 million players among all platforms in the first period of its release. The game, which was initially released exclusively for the Epic Games Store for PC, then came to Steam, but the decline in the number of players could not be stopped. Since the end of 2021, the lack of any updates to the game has already been considered a danger bell, and Proletariat’s announcement has made it official.
Seth Sivak, CEO of Proletariat, says: “Unfortunately, the gaming industry is a challenge. Spellbreak failed to make the breakthrough we expected and provide the continuity needed to continue investing in the way we imagined. As an independent studio, we chose the hard road and decided to tackle some of the biggest games in the world. While we didn’t get the escape speed we needed, I don’t regret the brave decisions we made in bringing Spellbreak to life. While we’re saying goodbye to Spellbreak, I would like to thank our community of players for their support and help. Spellbreak changed our studio and touched the lives of many. Thank you once again.”
The exact closing date of Spellbreak is unclear. But in-game real-money purchases are completely turned off.
