In comics, when reading a character’s series, the side characters who come in empty either add flavor to the event like the sauce added on pasta, or ruin the whole dish like an open salt shaker and spoil your taste. There’s a fine line in between, and unfortunately I can’t say that it’s always been successfully achieved. Teams like the Avengers or X-Men are a little more relaxed, while the giant one-man cast requires more freedom for the characters. While there’s a crossover film, No Way Home, that looks like something out of the ’90s, let’s take a trip to the quirky past of spider-man, our neighborhood’s adorable neighbor, and our ego-like friend Doctor Strange.
Let me warn you, I don’t intend to tell the Dr. Strange/Spider-Man stories of the entire Marvel complex, but to dig through a complex that’s been going on for over 50 years for such documentation. My goal is to make things clearer by talking a little bit about the history of these two coming together. Because the “Everyone knows my identity, let’s cast a spell” conversation in No Way Home, which we saw, is essentially a subject in comic books in the late ’90s, and after watching the movie, my spider senses told me to look at the comics a little bit more. Don’t worry, there will be no details about the film except for the magic event we saw in the trailer. I’d say watch the movie when you get a chance because it’s the most Peter Parker Spider-Man movie in years.
Witchcraft 101
Spider-Man meets Dr. Strange, it goes back a long way. And by “quite a bit,” I mean exactly 1964. Peter Parker and Stephen Strange cross paths in the second issue of Amazing Spider-Man Annual. Both heroes follow an evil sorcerer named Xandu on a journey through the land of eccentricities. The pair, who run after Watoomb’s staff without saying time or space, also manage to break it in half at one point. But at the end of the day, at least for a while, this weird duo thinks they’re the winners. I’m still wondering what the children of the era who saw Doctor Strange and Spider-Man for the first time thought. I guess there’s been a lot of interest because these reunion stories haven’t come out yet, but in the end, we’ve been the ones who’ve faced some very strange scenarios.
By the time we get to the ’70s, Marvel, which has gone further in teaming up this time, is reuniting Spidey and Strange in the Team-Up series to face Xandu. So the same formula has been heated, heated and put in front of us for 50 years. The only difference is that in the comics of ancient times, there is a slightly purer story. This time, Xandu, chasing the Kadavus Crystal, makes things a little weirder with his hypnosis skills. To recharge Watoomb’s wand (it’s worth remembering that there was no wireless charging at the time), this crystal plays a key role. But in the 1972 Team-Up story, we learn more about Xandu and see his desperation to save his lover, Melinda. After all, Spider-Man saves the day again.

Sometimes I don’t understand marvel’s quirks with its characters in comic books. We’re staying in 1972, and in the same Team-Up issue, Peter Parker has a very romantic date. Playboy Peter gets attacked by a werewolf on his date with a girl named Cissy when nothing’s out of the way. yes, he’s a real werewolf, and no, Howling Commandos isn’t involved. Peter, who fights this werewolf, suddenly finds eye of Aagamoto. Peter, who is well aware of what this is because of his relationship with Dr Strange, goes back to Sanctum Sanctorum and tries to figure it out.
A little tarot horoscope, a little Wong help, and it turns out that this werewolf is actually DOCTOR STRANGE. Dr. Strange, cursed to save a sorcerer named Clea, is diagnosed with lycanthropy, a werewolf disease. Then, with Satana’s hard work, Strange’s soul is saved, but Satana can’t leave this struggle alive. But don’t worry, we saw him in a lot of comic books afterwards. If I tell you your full name, maybe it’ll ring a connotation, Satana Hellstrom.
Advantages of Journalism
I love Spider-Man, but I like Peter Parker better. It’s one of my favorite activities, especially reading Spider-Man stories on the streets of New York that take pictures and chase bandits on the one hand. And yet, just as I mentioned at the top, we’re dealing with a delicious gravy story. In the 1998 untold Tales of Spider-Man comic book, Peter Parker, as usual, is interested in growing spider-man photos to the Daily Bugle and paying the rent. This time, however, there are two normal people. Ironically, these friends are holding another ancient item, the Lantern of Lantarr, but their goal is to rob a woman with it.
It doesn’t take long for Ancient One to warn Dr. Strange about this lantern, and then strange and spidey cross paths. Peter Parker, known for his spider senses, had a “lantern feeling” throughout this mission. There are lanterns in parallel universes along with many other people taken prisoner. But things are getting a little more personal because these prisoners, for some reason, include Flash Thompson and Liz Allan. Baron Mordo’s goal is to sacrifice all these people and to empower Enigma, who we will later learn is Dormammu. Of course, the two are disrupting this treacherous conspiracy, and everyone is beaming safely to New York. In fact, J.J.J. rarely declares Spider-Man a hero. Peter Parker, however, watches Strange erase everyone’s memory and make them forget about this strange event, and that rare tribute is shelved. I don’t know if this memory erasure thing is peter’s or Marvel writers’ ease, but we’ll learn a lot from different characters later on.
Teacher, We Had a Spell of Obliation
We know that Peter Parker cares deeply about his cover. Although tom holland is always unmasked under his contract at the MCU, seeing spider-man without a mask in comics is never a good sign. Again, one day, Peter’s identity is revealed. Thousands of enemies are targeting his entire family, and Peter is fading into Sanctum Sanctorum. Of course, Doctor Strange understands the reason for this visit and rejects Peter in the first place! Because in the intervening periods, this kind of obscenity became very used in Marvel. But knowing all too well that his family and loved ones are in danger, Peter grabs Strange by the collar.
Strange, who doesn’t want to get under this ball again, is also discussing the subject with two of the smartest people in the universe, Reed Richards and Tony Stark. Even though Tony’s a little up to it, there’s approval. Unlike Brand New Day, Mary Jane and Peter Parker go into a protective shield together, and Strange once again makes the world forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. When we saw this on One More Day – Brand New Day, it got a little darker because MJ and Peter’s union just disappeared and all that character development was wiped out. Perhaps that was the greatest damage civil war has ever done.
Starting in 1964, the pair’s series of quirks has also spread to the cinema, so perhaps one day we’ll see the werewolf Doctor Strange visiting the MCU. Actually, there are more stories between these two that are set or are together, but most of them aren’t that interesting. In the mid-2000s, during the New Avengers era, Dormammu was again the Spider-Man who disrupted his plans. Along with Scarlet Witch and Ben Grimm (The Thing), they also encountered giant lizards in another universe. Or Doctor Strange, which saves Peter Parker, who is trapped in a birthday story for a certain part of the time, from this endless cycle. But I think the most special story between the two was that Strange gave Peter Parker the right to spend five more minutes with Uncle Ben as a gift. In Marvel, where all the dead can be resurrected except Uncle Ben, I don’t think there’s any equivalent to this gift. Let’s see what kind of quirks this wonderful friendship will offer us on both the MCU and the comic book side.
