The beta of the portal-based shooter game Splitgate has been downloaded by more than 10 million users in the last month — as the firm did not expect — and seems to have had a negative impact on the game’s beta process. Because the production company 1047 Games said in a statement on the game’s official Twitter account that “there is a lot to be done” until the game’s release, noting Gamescom 2021,which will take place on August 25.
Splitgate beta had collapsed from density
1047 Games said in a press release that the beta process will be extended as the game’s resistance to overcrowding is tried to be increased. The game’s sudden oversupply resulted in very long loading times and inability to access the servers, and the production company turned to closing the beta of the game for a while and increasing the server capacity of the game.
Splitgate producer 1047 Games addressed the extreme pressure and measures taken on servers via social media and the game’s official discord channel. The game studio, consisting of a team of only 30 people, managed to make the game servers instantly able to withstand 175,000 players.
1047 Games plans to add a variety of updates to the game, including increased server capacity and being able to enter Ranked games together, ahead of their “big” announcement at Gamescom 2021.
