Embracer Group announced in May of this year that it had reached an agreement to acquire Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal from Square Enix. The deal was completed in August. Following the completion of the deal, Square Enix Montreal was renamed Onoma.
In its renamed Onoma post, he said: “We will always use our strength to adapt to new developments, current trends and market changes. This was the case before, and it will be the same now. In this context, we have created a new brand as Studio Onoma. We are excited to take on this change.
Our name and appearance may have changed, but we are still the same. We will continue to be a team that always pursues creativity and innovation.”
Onoma was founded in 2011 under the name Square Enix Montreal, and has since released a variety of mobile games including Hitman GO, Hitman Sniper, Lara Croft GO, Deus EX GO, and Hitman Sniper: The Shadows.
