Square Enix normally planned to release Forspoken in May of this year. In March, they announced that the game had been postponed to October. Yesterday evening, a new announcement came and Forspoken was postponed to January 2023.
Contrary to the reasons we’re used to seeing in postponement announcements, Square Enix says that all elements of the game are complete.
The following sentence is noteworthy: “As a result of consultations with our main partners, we have taken the strategic decision to postpone the release of Forspoke to 24 January 2023”. In other words, the only reason for the postponement of the game seems to be to avoid elements that may cause sales to decrease and crowded exit calendars.
Of course, in this case, they also take Forspoke away from this year’s games awards, but there is one thing they know.
In Forspoken, we will play the role of Frey Holland, a young woman who struggles to survive in the fantasy world named Athia and must discover her magical abilities to do so.
Forspoken, which uses the Luminous Engine, will be released for PC and PlayStation 5.
