SSI’s classic D&D Gold Box games are set to meet players on Steam years from now! This is great news for dinosaurs like me, because as I’ve said before, I think the years when SSI’s Gold Box series was released are one of those periods that changed the history of computer role-playing games.
As someone who spent his childhood playing SSI Gold Box games, most of them are games that I still open and spend time with, especially in Amiga (I’m not kidding). In fact, this collection was also available in GoG until now, but it didn’t make sense to give all that dollars because GoG didn’t do local pricing. Now I hope that with a nice local pricing on Steam, we will be able to buy the entire collection.
The collection is divided into various pieces, so you can buy the packages you want.
Forgotten Realms: The Archives Collection One (Eye of the Beholder 1, 2, and 3)
Forgotten Realms: The Archives – Collection Two (Curse of the Azure Bonds, Gateway to the Savage Frontier, Hillsfar, Pools of Darkness, Pool of Radiance, Secret of the Silver Blades, Treasures of the Savage Frontier, and Unlimited Adventures)
Forgotten Realms: The Archives – Collection Three (Dungeon Hack, Menzoberranzan)
Krynn series (Champions of Krynn, Death Knights of Krynn, The Dark Queen of Krynn)
Dark Sun series (Shattered Lands, Wake of the Ravager)
Ravenloft series (Strahd;s Possession, Stone Prophet)
D&D Stronghold: Kingdom Simulator
Al-Qadim: The Genie;s Curse
I’ll buy The Archives Collection One (because Eye of the Beholder <3), The Archives – Collection Two (Pools of Darkness includes some of the toughest battles you’ll ever see, let me warn you) and Krynn Series (one of my favorite trilogies). I’ll take care of the rest at the price.
Actually, I’d like Hillsfar to be added to this collection. We could transfer the characters from Pool of Radiance to Hilsfar and continue, and then we could transfer it to Curse of the Azure Bonds. It’s a completely different game engine, but it’s also a game that has a place in the series.
All these SSI games will be playable on March 29.
