In the last 10 years, there have been many game projects implemented through crowdfunding. Especially for independent developers, we find that such campaigns are very useful. But then there’s the example of Star Citizen; He sets a very different example in this regard. I’m one of those people who thinks no one knows for sure what’s waiting for us at the end of the day.
Chris Roberts, who has signed on to games such as Wing Commander series, Starlancer and Freelancer, which is a series that I also love, invited gamers to a new space adventure about 10 years ago and launched a campaign on Kickstarter for this game called Star Citizen.
That’s what happened after that. When the game was announced in 2012, the scheduled release date was announced as 2015. But we can’t even talk about the release of the game today, let alone 2015. The game’s one-man mode, squadron 42, was also targeted for 2016, so there’s still no sound. Of course, the biggest factor in this must be that the project has become a golden egg-laying chicken. So far, the amount of funds raised has surpassed $400 million.
We’re looking forward to where this is going. Either we’re going to face one of the biggest debacles (maybe the biggest) in the history of the game, or the most expensive game in the game world. In any case, it looks like it’s going to be a major break in the game world. See you next year on the news that “Star Citizen has raised $500 million in a crowdfunding campaign”…
