Instead of doing a similar steam game pass system, it plans to work with Microsoft to incorporate Game Pass, just as EA Play is added to Steam. A few days ago, we received word that Bethesda Launcher would be shut down and the games would be transferred to the Steam library.
Aims to include Steam Game Pass
Asked if Steam planned to install its own Game Pass system, Valve boss Gabe Newell replied:
“From scratch, I don’t think it is necessary to install a subscription system that is specific to us. However, for Microsoft Gamepass users, bringing Gamepass to Steam could be a big step, and we’re ready to work on that from yesterday.”
So while we won’t see a “Steam Pass” system anytime soon, it seems inevitable that Valve, which is currently concentrating on the Steam Deck, will at some point work with Phill Spencer to adapt Game Pass to its ecosystem. However, this process can of course bring some problems with it. Examples include the lack of DLSS or Ray-Tracing support in Game Pass versions of some games that also appear on Steam.
Gabe Newell said she had discussed the issue with Phil Spencer before and discussed how to implement the idea.
