The Lollipop Chainsaw Remake, which was officially announced yesterday, will be the new game of Dragami Games, founded by Yoshimi Yasuda, the CEO of Kadokawa Games, the publisher of Lollipop Chainsaw, after leaving Kadokawa. However, Lollipop Chainsaw Remake will not feature the original game’s creative director Suda51 or one of its writers, James Gunn, in any way.
In response to an article that asked about his and Suda51;s involvement in the game, Gunn said, “Neither I nor Suda51 are involved in this project. In fact, I heard it from Suda for the first time a few weeks ago. I don’t support it, I don’t hinder it. I just don’t know anything about it. I thought it was important to make it clear that no one approached us about it, as our names are sometimes mentioned in the published news,” says James Gunn, who is also the director of Guardians of the Galaxy.
In the announcement of this remake, Yasuda actually said that Suda had taken on the role of advisor. “Since Suda is very busy with his other projects, I am directing and producing the game, and the development work is undertaken by the team of Grasshopper Manufacture and Kadokawa Games employees,” he said, adding: “Suda reviewed the game design and advised the project as an executive producer”.
Suda51 then issued a statement saying , “yoo, I have nothing to do with this game.” He even added that “Grasshopper Manufacture; has nothing to do with the development of this game or anything else.”
I guess no one knows why Yasuda made such a misdirection.
