Marcus Smith, one of the directors of Sunset Overdrive, expressed his willingness to make the sequel in an interview with GQ.
Asked about the future of Sunset Overdrive, Marcus Smith replied:
“Never say never, my approach. We are now part of Sony and have IP. There’s nothing in our future that can stop us except for a lot of exciting things.”
“I’d love to do the sequel. I think there are many stories that can be told in that universe, and I’d love to come back. We had a lot of fun making the game.”
Sunset Overdrive first debuted on Xbox One in 2014 and PC in 2018. Sony Interactive Entertainment registered a trademark for Sunset Overdrive earlier this month. The game can also come to PlayStation consoles.
Drew Murray, the other director of Sunset Overdrive, has also returned to the Insomniac Games in recent months.
