Sony has unveiled details of its long-rumored new PlayStation Plus service. The system, codenamed Spartacus, which is said to be a competitor to Game Pass, is actually a combination of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now services.
Sony hasn’t changed its name on the service, so the name of the service is still PlayStation Plus. But now you will be able to purchase services in three different categories:
- PS Plus Essential ($9.99) – $59.99 per year
- PS Plus Extra ($14.99) – $99.99 per year
- PS Plus Premium ($17.99) – $119.99 per year
The announcement does not yet have a Turkish page, the Turkey PlayStation page sends directly to PlayStation’s original blog. Therefore, we will be able to talk about the Pricing Part of Turkey through estimates for now.
If there is no change in the accepted exchange rate, the price provisions of these three levels will be as follows:
- PS Plus Essential – £40 per month – £240 per year
- PS Plus Extra – £60 per month – £360 per year
- PS Plus Premium – £72 per month – £432 per year
Of course, players who will benefit from a 50% advantage in 12-month purchases.
PS Plus Essential is exactly the same as the current PS+, no different in content or price.
In addition to PS Plus Extra;d you’ll also have access to a catalog of around 400 PS4 and PS5 games. This catalog will include first-party PlayStation Studios games and games from third-party partners. That’s the Game Pass part.
PS Plus Premium is adding about 340 games for now, in addition to the above. These are PS3 games that can be played with cloud streaming and original PS1, PS2 and PSP games that can also be played via streaming or download. There will also be cloud streaming for games available at Extra and Premium levels in countries where the PlayStation Now service is currently available.
Premium owners will also be able to try the games for a limited time. This is a similar app to the EA Play service. It is not specified in the blog post how many hours of trials there will be.
Ps+ Extra and its first-party PlayStation games include Death Stranding, God Of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 and Returnal.
Sony will make the transitions to its new PlayStation Plus service regionally. The service will start in Asia in June, followed by in North America, Europe and the rest of the world. Sony’s goal is to ensure that by the end of the first half of 2022, most PlayStation Network regions will be switched to the new PlayStation Plus subscription service.
Meanwhile, as Jim Ryan himself explained, new PlayStation Studios games won’t be added to this service from day one, so at this point they’re seriously divergence from Game Pass.
What do you think about the new features of the service, whether prices will come as we predicted or if we as Turkish players will face a raise, we will wait for your comments 🙂
