On Jan. 11, Take-Two announced that it would make the biggest acquisition of all time in the gaming world for that period, and that it would buy mobile game giant Zynga for $ 12.7 billion.
At the time, this was indeed an incredible event, because Microsoft had bought a gaming giant like Zenimax Media for $ 7.5 billion the previous year. Take-Two paid almost 1.5 times that.
Of course, just a week later, on January 18, we didn’t know that Microsoft would forfeit $70 billion for Activision Blizzard:)
Take-Two and Zynga will fully merge on May 23 with the completion of the acquisition. Thus, this will be the biggest acquisition in the gaming world until Microsoft completes the purchase of Activision Blizzard (if it can get federal approval, of course).
Zynga shares will be closed from the end of the day today and will be removed from the list on the NASDAQ stock exchange.
Starting Monday, Take-Two’s famous names such as Grand Theft Auto, Borderlands, NBA 2K, BioShock and Zynga’s mobile money machines such as FarmVille and Words With Friends will be under the same roof.
