Take-Two is set to make the biggest acquisition of all time, not just in the gaming world: the firm pressed the button to tie mobile gaming giant Zynga to its colors for $12.7 billion.
By comparison, Microsoft recently acquired Zenimax Media for $7.5 billion.
As a result of this agreement, Zynga’s popular mobile games will also be under the umbrella of Take-Two, which also means that well-known names such as GTA, Borderlands, NBA 2K, Bioshock can meet the mobile gaming world through Zynga. Frank Gibeau will continue as Zynga’s CEO.
Zynga’s mobile games have around 183 million players per month.
Following the announcement of the acquisition, Take-Two shares initially lost 13% of their value (some investors think the monetary size of the purchase is too great), while Zynga’s shares gained 40%.
However, it should be noted that Zynga has 45 days to accept if a better offer comes from a different company. If you recall, EA took codemasters from Take-Two in the same way.
