Federal Courts in the United States and Germany have ruled in favor of Tencent Games and KRAFTON, Inc. in lawsuits against a group of hackers. The lawsuit against fraudulent activities that gave pubg mobile an unfair advantage was ordered to pay about $10 million in damages to Tencent Games and KRAFTON. They were also asked to stop their illegal activities involving game cheating and to provide detailed information about how they exploited PUBG MOBILE and their collaborators.
Tencent and Krafton win case against cheaters at PUBG Mobile
Tencent Games and KRAFTON announced that the compensation won will be used to further develop PUBG MOBILE’s anti-cheat technology. These decisions mark a major victory not only for Tencent Games and KRAFTON, but also for the video game industry and the ongoing fight against illegal cheaters.
Rick Li, a PUBG MOBILE producer at Tencent Games, said: “Millions of players around the world are enjoying PUBG MOBILE. We are also working to ensure an equal playing field for everyone. Unfortunately, the actions of hacker groups undermine the justice of the game. These decisions are a clear message that Tencent Games will not tolerate cheating in PUBG MOBILE.”
“Cheaters will never be tolerated”
Minu Lee, President of PUBG MOBILE Product Management at KRAFTON, Inc., said, “This legal victory strengthens our shared commitment to vigorously protecting our games, PUBG IP, and our global community. Entertainment and fair gameplay are the foundation of the PUBG MOBILE experience, and cheaters will never be welcome. Therefore, we will continue to steadfastly protect our intellectual property rights against those who seek to abuse them.”
In March 2021, the largest video game cheating gang based in China was smashed. Then many global gangs stopped cheating on PUBG MOBILE. The lawsuits underscore the ongoing determined battle against cheating in the game. Measures to identify and prevent cheating include always investing in in-game replay and evaluation technologies, making the individual matching and reporting process simpler, and penalizing cheaters more.
In addition to all this, PUBG MOBILE recently launched one of its strictest anti-cheat measures, the device ban feature. According to this feature, the PUBG MOBILE security team will identify devices for users who deliberately cheat and continue to negatively affect the gaming environment. Once it is verified that it was used for malicious purposes, the player’s device will be permanently banned and it will no longer be possible to log in to the game or create a new account on that device.
