Tencent has launched facial recognition technology that prevents children in China from logging into games after a certain time of day. Players will undergo facial scans to prove they are old enough to log in after 10pm.
The new technology will prevent children from playing between 10pm and 8am, the BBC reports.
Tencent said in a statement: “Every individual who refuses or fails facial verification will not be able to log into Tencent’s games.”
The technology will be implemented in more than 60 games, including games like Honor of Kings and Game for Peace.
