Blizzard says the $45 costume question in the Overwatch 2 survey sent to some users doesn’t reflect the “final price.”
One of the questions in the survey sent out last week was, “How likely are you to buy a $45 Mythical Skin?” As such, the players thought that Overwatch 2 would increase the price of costumes, and I don’t think any actor would be positive about such expensive costume packages.
Blizzard said in a statement that the $45 price seen in the survey was a random price and did not represent the final pricing. “This survey is designed to better understand players’ preferences for different types of Overwatch 2 cosmetics. The price information contained in the survey is randomly selected for each user and does not represent the final price. We plan to share details about the game’s Store and Battle Pass system before the October 4 release date,” said an Overwatch 2 spokesperson.
Since Overwatch 2 will be a free game to play, Blizzard will provide the work of earning money through cosmetics and Battle Pass. With an extremely greedy monetization example like Diablo Immortal in front of us, players are approaching Overwatch 2 with caution.
