Dmitry Alekseyevich Glukhovsky, the Russian author of the famous science fiction novel Metro 2033 and its sequels, which is also the subject of a terrific video game series of the same name, has been put on the list of wanted by his country for criticizing Russia’s occupation of Ukraine.
A law passed by the Russian government in March criminalized independent reporting and protests about Russia’s occupation of Ukraine. On March 12, Glukhovsky posted on Instagram, which you will see below:
Glukhovsky explained that for this reason he was accused of “discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.” The famous writer continued his statement with the following words: “I am ready to repeat everything I said there. Stop the war! Realize that this is a war against an entire nation and stop it!”
According to Reuters Glukhovsky became the “first important cultural figure” to face the threat of imprisonment under this law. The author is not currently in Russia, but it is a matter of curiosity whether he will be punished for these accusations and what will happen if he does.
