The director of The Callisto Protocol, one of the fathers of ideas behind Dead Space, made new statements about the structure of the new game and especially dedicated to the comparisons made. As you know, Dead Space was a sci-fi horror game set in space and never backed down on bloody scenes. Developer Striking Distance says that with his new statements, his new games are not lagging behind in this regard.
In The Callisto Protocol game, blood will take away the body
The Callisto Protocol will take players to 2320, to Callisto, the moon of Jupiter. This planet is home to a colony inhabited by criminals called Black Iron. Players will take on the role of Jacob Lee, the main character. When things get messy and mysterious creatures emerge, and the dead somehow come back to life and start wandering left and right, everything will be turned upside down.
Developer Striking Distance, which has never shied away from showing brutal scenes like Dead Space on screen, says the same about The Callisto Protocol. There will be quite bloody and wild scenes in the game. Glen Schofield, the game’s director and one of the studio’s founders, told Eurogamer about the game:
“There are some really pretty scary scenes. We have an engine for atrocity elements. We have a lot of different renderings, such as cutting and reaping characters, breaking them, getting their bones out. In addition, our employees have special skills to make everything look wet.”
In the game, you’ll be able to cut through the enemies you fight so that their bones are exposed, and you’ll even be able to smash different parts of their faces and heads. If you remember Dead Space as a game full of brutality, Schofield says of The Callisto Protocol “it’s much more advanced compared to Dead Space.” Now we understand why the game puts the weight in close combat in battles.
