Internet Explorer, as old as the Internet itself, the only one of the times and the king of internet memes, is leaving us as of today. Although it is one of the most important inventions in history, it has turned into a joke with its performance for a long time. Yet the passing of a legend hurts our hearts.
Starting tomorrow, users who will try to open Internet Explorer will be directed directly to Microsoft Edge. This new Chromium-based browser has not yet been able to meet Microsoft’s requests. On the other hand, thanks to the “Internet Explorer mode” to be added to Edge, users will be able to use their IE 11-specific applications directly through this browser.
The passing of the myth of Internet Explorer is not surprising, although it is annoying. According to statistics from Statcounter, 67 percent of computers worldwide use Chrome, 10 percent use Safari, and 9 percent use Edge. Firefox and Opera account for 8 percent and 3 percent. The share of the “other” category, which includes Internet Explorer, is less than 3 percent.
