During the pandemic, major programs were either cancelled or digitally realized. The Game Awards were also digitally realized. This year, the physical program was restored. There was a lot of interest in both digital and the ceremony at the Microsoft Theater. There’s data that can confirm that.
According to information shared by Geoff Keighley; 85 million people watched The Game Awards 2021 live stream — which means a record has been broken. In 2019, 45 million people watched the program, followed by 83 million last year. The official YouTube feed was also viewed for 1.75 million hours, a 14% increase from the previous year.
Another data that may reveal the increase in interest is the votes for the awards; the number of votes cast increased by 27% compared to last year to 23.2 million.
TGA is growing year after year. What kind of plans does Geoff Keighley have for the years to come?
