The serious hikesthat have been happening for some time due to the economic crisis in our country have been reflected in Steam! Steam, our last stronghold as players, has seen a lot of game increases since the last weeks. The increase that the players in our country reacted the most to was the price increase of 200 TL that came to Elden Ring in the past minutes.
The last castle has fallen! Steam games are starting to go up
Elden Ring, which was launched abroad with a price tag of $60 ($827.96), was opened for pre-order at 300 TL with a pricing that we can call ‘very local’ in our country. The game has increased by about ‘200 TL’ in the past minutes. Even if Steam has fixed the dollar rate at 2.5 TL in our country; the figure mentioned is only referred to as the recommended price tag. Whether or not steam complies with the pricing it recommends in our country is entirely up to the producers. While the big studios didn’t quite match this fixed exchange rate value (independent producers generally fit), they were at least coming up with a local pricing.
There are also many examples of hikes in recent days, weeks and months. For example, if you want to use Total War: Warhammer I and II, which were $210 until October last year, had risen to $345 (DLC has also nearly doubled). Another example is Lost Ark. Lost Ark. which is expected by a very large audience of players in our country, the Lost Ark Platinum Founder’s Pack, which was launched in June from 144 TL, was first increased to 456 TL and then to 965 TL on November 3.
In addition, unfortunately, the examples mentioned are not limited to these productions. Let’s also mention that there is a price increase especially in many independent productions. Steam, which we can call our ‘main goal’ as players, is struggling with many hikes. The Steam Winter Sale, which starts on December 22, 2021 and runs until January 7, 2022, may be our biggest opportunity before bigger hikes. These gradually coming hikes will probably not be limited to the PC side either. Serious price tags on consoles can become even more expensive. As Merlin’s Boiler team, we regret to inform you that unfortunately our last goal as players is on the verge of relegation.
