I always keep myself ready for the most common question in everyday life. My answer is always unequivocal and unambiguous.
– What’s your favorite movie?
– Back to the Future!
My childhood has a great share in the basis of this love of Back to the Future.
BACK TO THE FUTURE
|
As we approached the end of the 90s, we watched Back to The Future many times on television, especially on Star, the most popular channel of that period. That’s how I got hit by the duo of Doctor Emmet Brown and Marty McFly, and of course the DeLorean himself! So much so that there was an abandoned truck in the meadow where we played football in the neighborhood and we two friends tried very hard to make it a time machine, and then the scrap dealers came and took away our dreams of time travel.
As such, all kinds of content related to Back to the Future managed to enter the category of sacred for me. I know that Hollywood’s recent love of re-shooting everything old will not spill over into the BTTF. At least as long as series creators Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale live, the fourth film will definitely not come. However, we have a wonderful game series with the intention of a fourth film. I don’t have much to do with Telltale games, but every person who loves Back to the Future should play them.
The five-part game series starts exactly where the third film ends, and this time it challenges us to much more bizarre problems in very different timelines. We also witness a young Emmet Brown breaking free from his father’s pressure and turning to science, and how such a great genius can create a dystopia for the sake of love. In the 1930s, we see the mafia of Hill Valley, and we see the soup resistance against the prohibition of alcohol! This game series, which has both the cute humor of Back to the Future and plenty of time paradoxes, really serves as a fourth film, as Bob Gale says.
Christopher Lloyd’s return as the voice of Emmet Brown makes the excitement and commitment to the game much higher. While Michael J. Fox doesn’t voice Marty due to health issues, hearing him at least voice the character of AJ LoCascio brings a sweet smile to the face. Of course, it is impossible to ignore the great efforts of Bob Gale, who made the story progress in accordance with his book. So when we look at the conclusion, Back to the Future: The Game is a true Back to the Future story and the biggest reason why many fans like me looked at life with hope in the early 2010s.
Why did he become a legend?
A LIFE DEDICATED TO SCIENCE
In Back to the Future, we see the McFly family’s lives in Hill Valley since the 1800s. But to many fans like me, the Doctor’s story was just as important as McFly. Finally, with The Game, we learned that young Emmet Brown stood out from the law books and gave his life to science. We had our first experience thanks to the information that young Emmet, whom we met in the first episode, It;s About Time, gave us in his conversation with his father. Although we played Marty all the time in the play, the Brown family (and even his new family in an alternate future!) was key. We have clearly learned why a scientist should not engage in politics, especially after the second part.
MUCH BETTER THAN THE FOURTH FILM
Under normal circumstances, maybe I would want a fourth film for Back to the Future. So maybe it could have happened 20 years ago. But it’s very unsettling that Michael J. Fox could even be filmed with another Marty due to illness. Already under the leadership of Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, there was a huge “anti-BTTF 4” campaign. When we look at the remakes and sequels of other cult science fiction of the 80s, it is really pleasing that we see the 2016 version of Ghostbusters in particular and that nothing like this has been done for Back to the Future. The reason why this game became the biggest legend under the heading of WHY IT BECAME A LEGEND was that it introduced us to a game series that was exactly in line with its essence instead of a potential fourth film. The five episodes, in which Bob Gale led creatively from the very beginning, were a far more satisfying experience than any modern-day Back to the Future film.
