Steam, the backbone of PC gaming, has spread its wings to many other platforms over the years. But players still have to play games on older consoles through emulators. The app, called RetroArch, will allow Steam to eventually reach into the past.
Available completely free of charge, RetroArch will have a large proportion of popular emulators on it as DLC. Snes9x and bsnes for those who want SNES, BlastEm for Those Who Want Genesis, DeSmuNE for DS enthusiasts, Nestopia for NES enthusiasts, Flycast for Dreamcast fans and PPSSPP emulators for PSP will be available from today via RetroArch.
This system seems to be especially useful to Stream Deck users. Once the platform is released, you’ll be able to play all the classic games comfortably on your own portable device.
