The producer of The Quarry has been acquired by the giant Scandinavian media firm. Supermassive Games, famous for Until Dawn and The Quarry, has been acquired by Nordisk Games, a game company owned by Scandinavian media giant Egmont. Nordisk Games also includes Avalanche, producer of Just Cause games, and Mercury, producer of Castlevania: Lord of Shadows, on Steam.
The Quarry’s producer enters the Nordisk Games umbrella
SuperMassive Games, founded in the UK by Pete and Joe Samuels in 2008, became famous with the Bafta award winning Until Dawn. The studio, which later published The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry, grew into a huge team of 300 employees. Now, this team, which is highly experienced in making interactive movie-like games, has come under the roof of a giant media organization.
Scandinavian media giant Egmont has investments in many different areas, and the gaming industry is a part of them. At the beginning of the game section is Nordisk Games. Egmont is also a foundation, so although most of the revenue goes to future projects, it is also used to support young people and children in need of medical assistance.
The Quarry, which was released last month, was mysteriously removed from sale at the Playstation Store TR.
