The 2.5D cyberpunk action game Replaced at last year’s Xbox-Bethesda event also had its share of the Ukraine-Russia war. The game, which was supposed to take us to the alternative 1980s, has been postponed to 2023.
In Replaced, we would manage an artificial intelligence trapped in a human body, while trying to get used to people’s lives, we would also learn that everything has a price. We’ll find out again, but with a little delay.
“The Belarusian Sad Cat Studios, which is working on the game, has talented developers from both Belarus and Ukraine. Unfortunately, the ongoing war in Ukraine has seriously affected the development of Replaced, as the vast majority of the team lives in neighboring areas.
For Sad Cat, the safety of our team and their families is a priority. As a result, part of the team has moved to different regions, and the work on Replaced is just beginning.”
The statement from the studio says that the physical and mental health of its employees is more important than meeting the announced first release date, and it is very true.
The Sad Cat Belarusian studio and the Belarusian government are also supporting Russia in the war. The studio showed its side by declaring that “we condemn both Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the role of the Belarusian government in this aggression.”
