Speaking to Edge magazine, Telltale CEO Jamie Ottilie said that the new cast members who will meet the series through The Wolf Among Us 2 will not suffer, and that even those who don’t know the original game can easily play this sequel.
“We do our storytelling in a way that stands on its own two feet. The opening of the first episode sets things up in such a way that the actors understand how the characters got to where they are now,” Ottilie said.
Of course, I think the best way to experience such a sequel would be to have played the first game, and Ottilie says that “we hope that new players would prefer to look at the first season before playing this new season”, but adds that even if they do not, they can easily understand the course of the story.
Based on the Fables comic series, The Wolf Among Us series seemed to have ended with telltale games closing in 2018. Then the studio was back in operation under new management, and their first job was to announce that The Wolf Among Us 2 was being developed from scratch. So this game is not a sequel that the old Telltale is working on, it’s a whole new game. We will also see Unreal Engine instead of the old Telltale Tool engine in this game.
The Wolf Among Us 2 will take place six months after the events of the first game.
Jamie Ottilie said the game would be broadcast in episodic format again, and that they even planned to air weekly episodes, just like tv shows. The entire season will actually be ready before the first episode of the game airs, which will prevent delays between episodes.
