If you get the Standard Edition version of FIFA 22 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you won’t have a chance if you think “I’ll upgrade the version when I get a PS5 or Xbox Series in the future.”
In FIFA 21, you could switch to the next-generation version when you purchased any version of the game, but Electronic Arts announced that dual entitlement will only be available in the Ultimate Edition version of FIFA 22.
Let’s say you get the Standard Edition version of the game ($60/€60), and if you want to give me another $10 in the future and move on to the next generation, that’s fine. If you want to play the next generation version on PS5 or Xbox Series, you’ll need to buy the game once more. So your only chance for an upgrade is the Ultimate Edition.
“Dual Entitlement is only available in FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition. Fifa 22 Standard Edition does not have Dual Entitlement. So if you buy FIFA 22 Standard Edition on PS4; and then switch to PS5, you will have to buy the PS5 version to play thegame”.
EA doesn’t use Smart Delivery on Xbox either, so it’s up to Ultimate Edition to switch to the next generation version there.
Let’s just say electronic arts knows how to invent new things to outdo yourself every time.
