One of the biggest surprises for the box office in recent years was the film Venom. Sonydid a similar job with Aquaman on behalf of the DC/WB partnership. Now both of these films are preparing for sequels and expanding their universe. Venom star Tom Hardy was also happy with the feeling of progress. In fact, he had various ideas for both the third film and a potential Spider-Man reunion. Speaking to Esquire, Hardy explained: “I’m not going to let you get to the point where you’re going to be able to do that.”
Tom Hardy’s confidence in Venom is truly admirable. Still, a possible collapse of the second film could mean the end of the road for Venom. In fact, right now, the entire Sony Universe is moving a little tightrope. While all the way out shows the Marvel Cinematic Universe merger, without a solid universe and good villains, Disneyis unlikely to pull off. Sony seems to have to do some remarkable work to see iconic Spidey villains like Venom and Kraven in the MCU. The second Venom film will be released on September 24.
