Recent “hate raids” and Twitch’s failure to take drastic measures against them have led to a huge drop in viewership as broadcasters protest #ADayOffTwitch to react to Twitch.
Twitch hasn’t lost much despite this decline, but it’s clear that broadcasters who form the basis of its revenue streamers won’t be happy if they continue with such organizations. TwitchTracker data shows that during the protest, the number of simultaneous viewers was up to 3.5 million, which is a loss of 1 million viewers compared to the previous day.
Kaceytron and HasanAbi, which have more than 2 million followers, also participated in the protest. If Twitch continues to tolerate this type of behavior and larger broadcasters support the protests, then Twitch’s job will become more difficult.
Twitch also marked the beginning of Subtember, a period of discounting on channel subscriptions, due to the protest, and did not launch on the 1st.
